Railway administrations around the world have been upgrading the various available technologies to implement the Track Circuit functionality, constantly improving all parameters of reliability, availability, maintainability and safety.
In accordance with the innovating and improving philosophy leading our developments, Invensys Rail Dimetronic introduces the FS3000 Jointless Track Circuit, another step towards a better service to our customers.
The system is based in the transmission through the running rails of an electric signal carrying digital encoded information. The signal generated by the transmission phase of the Transceiver runs through the entire length of the Track Circuit’s rails, coming back to the reception phase of the said Transceiver. The received signal is analysed and validated before a track clear status is passed on to the system.
The Track Circuit uses a phase-modulated signal. A digital code is sent on top of the 4 to 7.5 KHz carrier. A total of 16.384 different codes are available, thus allowing to allocate a unique code for each Track Circuit of a given signalling installation. This feature avoids a given Track Circuit accepting a signal coming from a different circuit, as may be the case in AC electrified tracks where a high number of traction return connections create alternate paths for the TC’s signals.
FS3000 JTCs are available with lengths ranging from 60 to 1.650 meters, depending on the ballast resistance of the track. Distance from the SER to the furthest tuning unit may be slightly above 8.000 meters.
A total of nine different frequencies are available for line track circuits and up to seven for points and crossings sections.
